New Payment Method for Travel

We are excited to announce some significant upcoming changes to the way our employees are paying for hotel reservations.

Virtual payments, or Virtual Card Number (VCN) accounts, can now be used as a payment mechanism for employee travel hotel reservations. VCNs will give travelers the ability to direct-bill hotels booked through Concur or by calling CalTravelStore, similar to how the state currently pays for airline and rental car reservations.

Traveler’s Benefits:

  1. Direct billing of hotel room, tax and resort fees.
  2. Mitigates exposure to payment fraud.
  3. Relieves travelers from paying out-of-pocket for travel and waiting for reimbursement.
  4. Solves challenges for those without credit cards.
  5. Reduces the need for, and the amount of, travel advances, travel expense claims.

VCN Training can be accessed at INTRANET Travel.
