Exciting news! The Department of Rehabilitation is introducing the rollout of a new Learning Management System (LMS), Blackboard.
What is an LMS?
An LMS is just what it sounds like: A place where learning is managed. Currently all trainings are tracked by a paper/spreadsheet process, and Adobe Connect has been used as the primary tool for online learning and virtual meetings but has significant limitations. The new system will alleviate these limitations and allow for more accurate tracking of trainings. That system is our new LMS, Blackboard.
With Blackboard, the DOR will now have a one-stop shop for all In-Service trainings, virtual trainings and mandatory trainings. The LMS will also streamline the training request and approval process and give users the ability to view, monitor and print their own training records.
In addition, Blackboard offers a browser-based web conferencing tool for collaboration, allowing users to share documents/screens from any computer, laptop or mobile device.
Details about the new LMS, along with training for all DOR employees, will be provided each step of the way during rollout.
