VR Connections (VRC) Update

We wanted to provide you with an update on the VR Connections (VRC) project, an online web portal that will support the automation of business processes and workflows.  Upon implementation, the portal will provide consumers and vendors a self-service portal interface that will streamline form submission, transactions, and communication. It will also provide DOR staff process automation capability, replacing paper with electronic forms, and will support timely follow-up via automated notifications and enhanced workflows.

  • Due to a later than expected start date, the first VRC release timeline mentioned in the VRC overview video has changed to approximately January or February of 2021.
  • This first VRC release will be a foundational release, which means it will establish and launch the portals with specific features for internal use by staff and external use by our consumers and vendors. It will also establish the framework by which we will develop and build our customized portals with the functionality and features we want to see in the product.
  • Subsequent VRC releases will build upon that foundation and will include more features that benefit consumers, vendors, partners, and DOR staff, including those that you continue to submit for consideration.

So, please continue to submit your great ideas for business process improvements so we can build the best product for all users. All ideas are being considered, particularly those that can revolutionize the way we work with our consumers, vendors, partners, and DOR staff.

Please send your ideas to VRConnections@dor.ca.gov.

Before closing, we would be remiss in not recognizing the incredible work of the numerous DOR staff who have so diligently dedicated their time and expertise to move the VRC project forward. We are extremely grateful for all their work and support.

With our sincere thanks to all of you for your continued work in support of our consumers and each other.
